Studio 909 Photography Classes
Studio 909 is offering two photography courses for the end of the year, “Becoming friends with your digital camera”, and “Intro to Photoshop”. Many of us have purchased digital cameras in the past few years.  For those of you that started with film cameras, digital photography may seem full of too many buttons and options.  Also, what used to happen magically at lab when you sent your film in is now in your hands.  These two courses are designed to address those issues, and help you start making photographs, not taking photographs.

Becoming Friends with Your Digital Camera

Your old film camera and new digital camera share many, if not most, of the same basic features.  Digital, however, goes beyond film in the options you have when shooting. With digital you can make on-the-fly changes to light sensitivity color capture that could not be made with film on a picture by picture basis.  In the world of film you ordered the lab to make these adjustments to the entire roll of film.  This in itself, opens whole worlds of control not available with film.  The Course will also cover composition, shooting, and making photos.
The course will consist of 4 - 1 hour classes meeting every Tuesday starting in November.

Equipment Required - A digital camera, access to a PC, and a desire to make, not take photos.

Course Cost - $30 per class - due at the begining of each class
Dec.  6 - Becoming friends with basic functions of your digital camera
Dec.13 - Review of assignments from first class
Dec.20 - Composition
Dec.27 - Post Processing

Intro to Photoshop

Since, with digital, you are also that mysterious lab where you sent your rolls of film, what is called post production in digital, is an essential process to understand if you are going to make pictures not just take pictures.

Equipment Required - A copy of CS2 or higher on your PC or Mac (note Photoshop Elements is not robust enough for this class), a jump drive or a CD burner so that you can bring your work to class, and a desire to make, not take photos.

Course Cost - $30 per class - due at the begining of each class

Dec. 7 - Learning how to navigate PhotoShop
Dec.14 - Understand Layers
Dec.21 - Masks
Dec.28 - Filter and Layer Mergers

Registration - Registration is by email to craig@studio909.net Please include the name of the course in the title of the email.  In the body of the email include the name of the class, the class time you are requesting, a second time, if the class is filled at the time of your registration, contact information, and camera make, or Photoshop version, whichever is appropriate.

Prepare to have fun and take your photography to the next level
